Carlisle - New Subway Roadside Store Letting

September 2008

Acting on behalf of a private investor, Peill and Company has negotiated an off market transaction in letting De Quincey House, the Maltings, Shaddongate, as a new Subway store.  The property, which was previously occupied by Blazes Fireplaces was let on the basis of a new 10 year lease and is situated adjacent to premises occupied by FADS, Textstyle World, Crown Berger and Thomson Roddick Laurie.  The property occupies a prominent location at the junction of Shaddongate with Caldewgate and is the third Subway store in Carlisle.

Simon Adams of the letting agents commented, “we were pleased to be able to secure a letting of this unit providing the landlord with a seamless transition from the previous tenant to the new tenant.  The deal was negotiated and completed very quickly, since the previous tenant indicated their willingness to surrender the existing lease.”  The transaction marks Subway’s 1,306th store in the UK and Ireland and complements their acquisition programme, which targets 2,010 stores by 2010.

The property extends to a total area of 197.5 sq m/2,125 sq ft.  John Chapman of Burns Property Consultants in Liverpool acted for the tenant in the transaction.
